Default Perry, Georgia - Good, bad

or middle of the road? I am looking to move to a smaller town, near interstate with good schools, growing pop. and has above average medical/hospitals facilities. And, still has the charm and characteristics of southern towns of years gone by. Good people willling and want to lend a hand. I have been to Perry, as well as many other smaller southern towns and, have always gotten a good vibe about it. School system ranks very high and crime seems relatively low. Looking to buy a good bit of acreage to build homestead on as well.

Anyone care to elaborate on Perry?

Please?

Many thanks.

i love perry! close to everything you need, but still small town feel. my daughter does very well at the elementary school.

i also think the hospital is great! i would definitely choose it over warner robins... i've had nothing but good care there.

good luck and feel free to ask any questions you may have. i will try my best to answer them!

Perry is great. Of all the cities/towns in Houston County, I would choose Perry. Schools are great and so are the people.

Thanks for the info.

Any big lakes to live on in the area? Also, is there a Publix or Walmart in Perry?

I cannot say anything bad about the Perry area, but my experiences at the hospital have been, lets say, much less pleasant events than suz7731 has experienced. We will not ever go there again, I promise you that. Two times we experienced very poor treatment and diagnosis. The last time warranted a mad dash ambulance ride and a week stay at the Children's Hospital in Macon.
The nearest large lake would be near Macon, Lake Tobesofkee, and even that is not really large as far as lakes go. On a brighter note, I think they have done some pretty neat work downtown, with the quaint little shops an all.

gosh, i'm sorry you had a bad experience at perry hospital bulldawgfan. and it sounds like it involved a child too. i would highly recommend the childrens hospital in macon or atlanta though. we have used both. there is a walmart in perry and we will soon have a publix (currently under construction).
good luck!

We just tend to shop at other places (mainly Target) instead.

Well . Cochran Georgia doesn't have a Walmart. It is in Bleckley County about 25 miles from Warner Robins and 40 Miles from Macon. A small town of about 4500 people.

A nice, quiet town. I could not find a city park to take the kids to, though. A bit out of the way, but I like that. There is a nice new high school and I hear good things about the school system. I am certain I have lived in worse places!!
