My grandparents used to live in Fort Oglethorpe, GA (about 10 miles south of Chattanooga, along I-75) and I visited them a few times there, seemed like a pretty small nice town, but I'm not sure if it's in one of the dry counties or not.

I just opened up a new upscale bar and grille in downtown Dalton. I was born in this area, raised primarily in larger cities in Florida. It's a nice area around here, good schools considering. Chattanooga is only 30 minutes from Dalton area for work in your field. I drove, on average, 1 hour a day to get to work when I lived in the larger cities, this drive is nothing to me if you wanted to live in GA, but work in Chattanooga.

I am with Disgusta and Jeff.
TN has no state income tax but sales tax is high so you might want to think about your options there. Which is more painful? lol Ft Oglethorpe, Ringgold and Chickamauga might be a nice fit for you and you could come to Chattanooga for work. While you will not be living IN the mountain, you will be VERY close no matter your choice of the above cities/towns. We've got cold beer in Rossville so it's not in a dry county (Walker).

I've been researching the Greenville area in SC and I can say one thing, people in Ga are a lot more friendly. I posted about jobs in the area, lots of views, but no replies. I guess they don't want outsiders taking their jobs. Doesn't seem very friendly so far.
Thank You Ga.!

I like Greenville for the most part.. but the one thing I cannot stand about it is all of the Holy Rollers who think they know what's best for everyone else.. so I can only imagine the type of responses you got fromthem when you mentioned you wanted to work in a bar. Let's not forget that Greenville is the home of Bob Jones University.. that bastion of enlightenment where interracial dating is still forbade. I've always thought Greenville was an attractive and growing city that I could possibly live in.. but the number of busybody bible thumpers in that area has always turned me off of the idea.

Oh poo. Don't worry. Most of us who live in Greenville don't like Bob Jones. They do have a nice art gallery though.

Good to hear...was wondering if they were just some sort of anomoly. I relatives who live in Greenville and all of their children attended Bob Jones.. they think the word Damn is as bad as the F-word and anyone who takes a alcoholic drink is a sinner..so hopefully people like them are in the minority.

The City of Greenville has sunday alcohol sales. Even the grocery stores are allowed to sell it that day. They are indeed in the minority. When I was in high school, most of the students including me would make fun of the school and the students who go there. And basa9159, I am sorry about guestposter. He is one of those guys who everybody hates and thinks with his keyboard instead of his brain.
