bartender searching for best work possibilities in north Ga.
We are wanting to relocate to N. Ga. and I was wondering what towns have more possibilities of finding work for restaurant people. We also have a young daughter, so crime and schools are also important. Any help would be appreciated.

when you say N. GA, are you including the Atlanta area ? Or do you mean the mountains ?

I'd like the mountains. The Atlanta area seems to have too much crime, and not too many good posts about it

Considering that many counties in the north GA mountains are dry.. you may have a hard time finding work as a bartender.

I'd have to suggest looking into Helen in White County. That is Georgia's touristy alpine villige . That is the only place I can think of that would possibly have what you might want. As the previous poster above me stated most of the counties in the North Georgia Mountains are dry .

Well the obvious answer would be Athens.. probably has more bars per capita than any city in Georgia.. plus lots of nice restaurants in the downtown.. but its a college town so tipping isn't exactly the best. Athens is a nice city where you and you will probably not have difficulty at all finding a job in the industry and you only an hours drive from the mountains. Another option may be to live on the Georgia side of the Chattanooga metro area.. Chattanooga has lots of restaurants and bars. Metro Atlanta will offer you the most opportunities but as you said.. you are not keen on big city life and the cost of living there will be considerably more.

Have been checking out the Chatanooga area and it seems to have the most possibilities. Have you been near the area? Can you tell me anything about the burbs out there?

Rossville, Chickamauga... all nice.. pretty nice mountain scenery. If you want mountains but need a job then the Chattanooga metro area is your best bet
