I wont argue for Macon against Greenville and Augusta. Augusta is a little bigger than Macon. Greenville is crushing our georgia 2nd Tier Cities and thats just it, but to promote Columbus over any of the other 2nd Tier Cities is crazy. Columbus is just as ghetto as the other 2nd Tier cities, with less history, less museums, less interstates, horrible location, small mall, no skyline.
Overall Entertainment I'm not sure, I know its less than Savannah, probably less than Augusta, it might have more or equal to that of Macon overall, but I know for teens and young adults it has less options.
The reality is that in comparison to Macon and Augusta, Athens isnt hyped enough and Columbus is over hyped.

Athens swims circles around the others...just goes to show size doesn't always matter.. "It's quality not quantity"..as my highschool english teacher used to always say. Downtown Athens never had to go through a "revitalization" period.. it's never been a ghost town.. It's wall to wall people in downtown Athens nearly every night of the week (not once a month like in Augusta).. and so many restaurants, cafes, pubs, galleries packed into a small area. It's wonderful.

I think a major university being located there has something to do with that.

Agree on that.. which is why I think college towns always excel in quality of life measurements. Annapolis, Charlottesville, Boulder, Madison, Ann Arbor, Ithaca, Athens.. all great places to live.

Columbus is definitely WAY over hyped!!
The only way to draw a crowd there is to offer something for free or giveaway.....and even then the residents are picky
Last report from DOL listed over 20 percent of residents were living below poverty level and average paying job(doing 3 things at once) was about 8-9 dollars an hour.
The only people that remain are retirees who do or spend little or nothing except pay their childrens bills or end up raising their kids.
Drug usage and AIDS run rampant as well but are swept under carpet.

You are hilarious! So untrue! I have lived there 25 years, and have not once seen or heard anything like that. AIDS runs rampant......this isn't Africa my friend.
Think I hear your company commander calling.....

Yea and he is telling us to stay clear of the city!!
Call down to the local dept of health and ask them for city AIDS statistics papers.
They handed them out to us along with numerous off limits areas of Columbus(the riverwalk was one!!)
Hit the deck soldier and give me 20 pushups if you can!!

Are you really trying to compare macon's to augusta
Augusta skyline is twice as big as macon. Thats why we are the second biggest city in georgia
