Moving to Georgia from Sweden
Hello everyone,
I'm planning on moving to Georgia with my family and I'm trying to find the best area for us. We live in Sweden and my children's hobbies are horses and dirtbike riding. Does anyone have any recomendations on any good areas that provide these activities?
Thanks..

Hamilton, GA in Harris County. It is located just north of Columbus and about an hour south of Atlanta. Beautiful county with horse farms and lots of land. Here is a picture of the area just north of Columbus. This is between the towns of Pine Mountain and Hamilton. You have easy access to Columbus and Atlanta for shopping, entertainment, etc.

Obviously I will recommend my town... Willacoochee. If you have any specific quesitons, then I will gladly answer them. It's mostly country (but within a 20-45 min drive to a bigger city), so if you had horses you would have enough land and also enough country side to ride dirtbikes.
Willacoochee has around 1,500 citizens and is in extreme Southern Georgia.

Hej
What brings you to Georgia?
My wife is from Helsinki. We now live in Panama City Beach, Florida.
My sister lives near Savannah, GA in Pooler, GA.
Do you want to buy a house with land and have your own horses?
There is such wide and vast differences from north Georgia and south Georgia - hot and humid low land to cool mountain regions.
My wife and I are debating whether we should stay here, move to the North Georgia Mountains or to the Savannah area to be near my sister.
We would be glad to answer any specific questions that you may have and help you in anyway possible.

You might want to consider "Dahlonega" (pronounced - duh-lawn-eh-gah) which is about 70 miles North of Atlanta, if that's not too far from the city for you (you didn't specify if you have a job in the city or not, etc).
Dahlonega is in the North Georgia mountains, North on GA400. It's a small town square type of setup that today has artist's studios, craft studios, and restaurants along their town square area, along with a gold museum in the center. Touristy, but very nice (but can be considered "laid back", slower paced, and somewhat conservative, too). There's lots to do in that area outdoors, from hiking to biking, fishing, floating down streams, and I'm sure there's lots of horseback riding in the area, too. There's even a Kangaroo farm in that area, as well as outlet shopping malls just South. It's about an hour and a few minutes North of Atlanta, so you still have access to the city when you want to visit IKEA - (though traffic gets bad as you get closer).
Here's some pics I've taken in the past on a cloudy Winter day in Dahlonega. Note that also in this set are some shots of a nearby town to it called "Helen" which is supposed to simulate a German Bavarian village (which I'm sure will make you laugh): North Georgia Mountain Towns - a set on Flickr
