Default Dry Counties

Can anyone tell me which counties are not dry in N. Ga?

We are desperately wanting to move up there, but I am going to need work. Bartending can keep us afloat until my husband gets established.

Please help!

All are dry on Sunday--Blue Laws.

Around metro Atlanta you can buy liquor at 'Package Stores' as we call the liquor stores. Beer/wine in grocery stores. Sold until 11 PM, IIRC.

ETA--Didn't read the rest of the post. Plenty of bars in and around Atlanta, Savannah has a tourist driven economy--River Street has bars and the beach.

If you intend to live in Central GA you might have a problem. North GA is also a tourist destination--not as many bars but nice restaurants and enough bars from what I have seen.

Fort Benning is located at Columbus, GA/west--there are bars there.

Don't know if this is a complete list. Dry county - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Most of the counties around metro Atlanta serve alcohol, including on premise service on Sunday. You can't buy and take home on Sunday in any GA county. So the rule of thumb is either buy on Sat or drink/drive on Sun. Thanks to the religious fanatics for that common sense approach.

Thank you for the responses.

We were looking more towards the mountains, so it looks like Dawson county is the only bet.

Any good things to say about the county?

Hall County includes Gainesville and Lake Lanier--Cumming-there is plenty of alcohol flowing there. Can't recall seeing a 'Lot' of bars but there are some.

Dawson County--not sure it is what you are looking for. They have Dawsonville, which has a lot of manufacturer's stores--high end I think. That is about it. North Gwinnett and Forsyth Counties might be better. I think St. John's Creek is in Fulton/north--some very nice establishments there. Along the river there are more restaurants which serve alcohol.

White County in the North Ga mountains is dry but the City of Helen (that is located in White County) is not dry. There are 3 liquor stores and numerous bars.
