Top Festivals in Georgia
Just wondering what people thought were the top festivals in Georgia??
Here are a few I think should be on the list.
Savannah's Saint Patrick Day Parade/Festival
Music Midtown (Atlanta)
Dogwood Festival (Atlanta)
Macon Cherry Blossom Festival
Atlanta Gay Pride Festival
Athfest (Athens)
Oktoberfest (Helen)
Dahlonega Film Festival
Vidalia Onion Festival
Georgia Rennaissance Festival
any thoughts on these?? which ones would you add? How would you rank these festivals on a list??

I would add the Yellow Daisy Festival in Stone Mountain and Summerfest in Virginia-Highlands.

Bragg Jam in Macon - not really a "festival" but a weekend of good, local GA bands.

Those are nice festivals but seem to be more neighborhood festivals that draw mainly locals from that area.. rather than festivals that draw in tens of thousands from a larger area.

It's interesting you mention Brunswick stew. I have friends in Virginia who swear it originated in Brunswick, VA... although I have always thought it was named after Brunswick, GA.

Your friends in VA are LIARS! Visit Brunswick, GA and you'll actually see the pot that made the first batch. I never had a decent bowl of Brunswick stew in VA...those posers. The Stewbilee is a blast, BTW...all the town characters turn out for it.

No way! It takes some mad skill to make a pot of Brunswick stew that actually tastes like it should! It definitely originated in Georgia! Have tasted variations throughout the US, and Georgia wins hands down!
My Granddaddy used to make the absolute best Brunswick stew, (from Georgia!) Hogshead and all! Once he got older, he stopped doing the whole hogshead thing as it was too much for him, but he STILL made a mean pot of stew!
