I need some assistance finding a moving company for a long distance move from San Antonio to Georgia. Looking for a reliable, responsible company. Does anyone has any experience with long distance moves, here in this forum? Any suggestions are very welcome and appreciate it.

We moved long distance from the northeast last year. You're best bet is to stick with the established national carriers like United Van Lines, Bekins Van Lines, Allied Van Lines, etc. I would stay away from the fly by night type movers who promise you lower costs or have some gimmick. All interstate moves are regulated, so there really isn't a huge price advantage to going with "2 men and a truck" type companies. You will not get something for nothing, and you get what you pay for...in all things.

We used a local Bekins agent in MA and had a good experience. Nothing was broken, and we only lost a minor item (lawn trimmer), and everything was essentially as promised. Just be sure to ask questions, make sure you buy insurance as needed (your stuff is NOT covered except at very low amounts by default), and be sure you have a written estimate and actual weight ticket. They will bill you on weight, so you want an estimate before and then the actual weight.
