Our eldest daughter & family live in Shalimar & love it. My son-in-law, godson, & grandsons go surf-fishing almost every day. There are jellyfish all around the top of the gulf--Pensacola, especially, at certain times of the day, but the sand is the finest in the world

. It's all gorgeously beautiful--no prettier beach sunrises & sunsets anywhere. Face South--look to your left in the morning, to your right in the evening.
If you had said NE FL, i would have recommended Little Talbot Island, a State Park on the A1A: seems remote, although luxurious resorts are all around it; uncluttered, uncrowded, wonderful camping, pristine, sunrises to die for. Nearby Kingston Plantation is lovely historical site & an unforgetable educational experience.

Try to fit it in sometime.
