Default Monroe

Hi everyone, I have been reading through all of your threads and am finding them very informative. My family and I are from Utah. For some reason I have it in my head I need to move to Georgia. We have no family anywhere near there but that is where it feels right. My husband works at a Wal-mart distribution center. I know there is one in Monroe Georgia. My son needs to go to a school for the blind. I have heard there is one is Macon. Can anyone confirm that for me. I think Monroe is probably where we will settle. I am having a hard time finding out what the city is like. Any thoughts would be very welcome. It seems like real estate is good there. Our limit is 200,000 and there seems to be a lot in that price range. This won't be untill next spring but I would like to find as much info as I can now. I just can't take any more of the snow here in Ut. Thanks for all your help.

Default Do Your Homework

City-Data.com seems to have the best info on any area...it is very important to do your own research and be wary of word of mouth...some people seem to have their own agenda.

Yes there is one in Macon, but do not be discouraged by what people tell you about the city. We have problems like any other city of our size and demographics but they are generally concentrated in the poorer areas. You could look into areas of North Macon and Southern Bibb County, There are also nice areas out into East Bibb but it's a little more rural and further away fom the city itself.

If you find that school for the blind in Macon, you can send your child there and still enjoy living in Monroe (County) which is less than 20 miles north of Macon.

let me put this as nicely as possible: STAY WHERE YOU ARE! Utah has a better quality of life than GA. Monroe is a half horse town with no future. it is DEAD!!! Georgia is dead right now. you are making a huge mistake.

don't like snow? you will love humidity. then there are the fire ants, mosquitos, lousy schools, busted economy etc.

my 2 cents.
