Default Tell me about Statesboro.

We were aiming for Savannah, but really want at least 1/2 acre of land. Some have suggested Rincon or Guyton, but it seems that Statesboro has a ton of homes for sale with large lots.
I'm thinking I should refocus on Statesboro rather than Savannah. Anyone have an opinion? Any other towns I should be considering? I'd like to stay under an hour from Savannah.

I lived in Statesboro for 4 years and Savannah for the past 2. I just moved to Alpharetta.

I would recommend Statesboro. Savannah has a host of issues as do most cities of its size. Statesboro has a great 4 year State University. The housing and taxes are far more reasonable than Savannah or its surrounding area, i.e. Rincon, Springfield, Guyton, Richmond Hill, Pooler.

Due to GSU, there are decent restaurants and shopping. If you want more you can hop in the car and ride to Savannah. Depending on which side of town you live in, you could be in Savannah in well under an hour (45-50 minutes). The Southeast Bulloch/Brooklet schools tend to be a little better for public education. Bulloch Academy is on the west side of town and is an excellent option for private school.

Good luck with the move.

Michael

Thanks, Michael, I love the idea of a college town. ..Will help keep us from turning into a couple of old farts.
