Gasoline Availability
I am seeking information on how gasoline supplies are in SE Georgia around Washington, Thomson, Wrens, Metter, Claxton, Folkston, and areas along that line.
We have had plans to make a trip down that way with our camper but are wondering if it is worth the risk.
We are having problems here in Athens and of course Atlanta is really struggling. The big fear is that the huge football game here Saturday is going to drain every last drop for days and days.
Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

There is a gas thread in the Atlanta forum and posters report that gas is available on the south side of Atlanta. It is possible that gas is also available along the route you mentioned. Would AAA have this kind of FYI?
I know I would hate to run out of gas before or after Metter. A desolate stretch imo.

Thanks
What i have been doing is looking up NAPA auto supply stores and calling them along the route i plan to take. Have had some success. Most say they have no local problems but of course that is today and not Monday.
The main problem seems to be toward Atlanta area. Talked to a distributor today who says of 32 stores he delivers to in Atlanta area, only 8 of them had any fuel today. He said he thought there would be little to no problem in south georgia because their supply comes from Jax port area.
Anything taking fuel off the Colonial Pipeline is having trouble keeping up.
Thanks for your reply.

Gas Shortage
Augusta Chronicle 9/26/2008 reports 1/2 mile gas waiting lines, many stations out of gas, region suppliers only able to provide 20-60% of normal amounts because of tight supplies. All but two North Augusta, SC stations out of gas 9/25 evening. The paper does not define "region". Sounds grim. Reference: www.chronicle.augusta.com (broken link).
