Default Fayette versus Henry counties???

Hi y'all - need some comparison help, please..... hubby's probably taking an Atlanta job, which will neccessitate a move from Jones County (TOO much of a commute). Fine, as we're not from here & are really kinda excited..... have already decided for various reasons to stay in the South ATL 'burbs & thought I had my county narrowed down to Henry, but after lurking through this awesome site, now wondering if Fayette might not be a better choice??? Help?????

Hubby's commute would be fairly similar from either spot, I believe - advise, please, if you know differntly. Looking at schools & resale - have 2 daughters. One is currently in 7th grade, honor roll student & very social; does well in a "big fish in little pond" environment. Baby is only 3, but that means elementary is around the corner, which also means I have to eagle-eye all 3 school levels.

Hubby & I love the big city 'burbs & all the offerings i.e. Starbucks, bookstores, great groceries, malls, etc (yes, we're THOSE people - ha ha!), yet boasts ATL treats, so "newer" always looks appealing to us. Hence the Henry County leaning, as it's such a fresh developmented area. However, is Fayatte a bit more mature, yet still-new choice?

Please help?!

I don't know too much about Henry county. But I have a coworker who live in Fayette county. He mentioned that Starr Mills and McIntosh are on par with the best public high schools in the Georgia. He just loved the whole PTC area.

Depends on how much you want to pay. Fayette is definitely going to be pricier than Henry (although Henry does have its expensive areas). The schools in Fayette are top notch but it's not as though the schools in Henry are crap. Also, keep in mind that there are no interstates in Fayette County. You either have to take S.R. 85 north from Fayetteville to I-75 or S.R. 74 west to I-85. The traffic will be horrendous on either of these routes but interstate traffic is A LOT more congested on I-75 than I-85. Hmm, they both will have all the usual suspects with regards to shopping, dining, etc. Hope this helps.
