Moving from Long Island to Georgia
My husband and I live in Suffolk County on Long Island, NY. Has anyone left LI and gone to GA? How did you find the move? My husband and I are interested in Hampton - anyone have any thoughts on moving to Hampton or LI (NY) move to GA?

Moving from Long Island to Georgia
Hampton - couple of reasons.....The online houses look beautiful. My parents live in Stockbridge - close but not too close and hopefully being near the Atlanta Speedway will entice some friends from LI to visit.

I'm from N. Babylon and have been in Grayson, Ga for a 10 months. It's very nice, quiet. I miss LI though. Why you might ask? With LI, you know what your going to get a few years down the line because there is no sprawl.

Moving from Long Island to Georgia
We will miss the pizza, bagels, family and friends. The cost of living is what is driving people off of LI and to GA, NC etc. It is getting too crazy and costly.

Hello Scarlett464. We've just relocated to Fairburn Ga (which is 15 to 20 minutes south east of ATL) from Suffolk County LI-East Patchogue/Belllport to be exact, 2 mos ago. We absolutely love it here in South Fulton. This area is really hot right now and it's not over crowded at all. We absolutely love it. New subdivisions are popping up around here because the builders are realizing that this area is a diamond in the rough. Don't be discouraged or mislead by any of these negative postings that you may see on this forum you have to see things for your self. My parents were living in Jonesboro GA right up the road from Hampton in Clayton county and have since moved here to Fairburn and they love it here as well, more rural. We would never be able to afford the brand new home we have here in NY, it would be at least three times the price we paid for it. We have 3134 square feet on one acre of land for less than 265K, you can't beat that with a baseball bat!!! Hoprefully things will turn out well for you with your move as well.
Sassysyl64.

The Hampton area is really undergoing a lot of developement right now. I went to highschool around that area. Its nice. The areas of Hampton, Jonesboro, and Stockbridge are nice areas. Stay away from Riverdale and Forest Park.

Im moving from LI to Grayson
Hi, I just read your post and I have been back and forth to Ga many times over the past 10 yrs and everytime I came back we promised to move there.
The amount of house for the money wow.... We have family in Lawrenceville, and have watched Grayson really develop. Finally my husband and I purchased a house there this week in Grayson and are hoping to move by the end of the month. The prices have really gone up in the past 3 years.
I agree, don't let these post scare you. I live in Franklin Square and I feel long Island isn't all I thought it was when I moved from Queens a few years ago.
We feel comfortable in the development we chose(a resale) and made sure it was very family oriented as we have 2 small children. Good Luck, and if I can be of any help let me now.
