It is totally understandable that a profit-oriented company must cover the costs of doing business. Southland never provided anything to us, no plans, no service, no communication, or anything else for the $2500 we gave them in good faith. We didn't delay anything because we had no preliminary plans or anything else. There was no cost of doing business where we were concerned because they took our money and gave us nothing! These people have lied, stolen our money, and used deceptive trade practices and I would never recommend them to anyone. Again, buyer beware!!!!

I agree with the comments of infosearcher, but this sounds like nothing more than a misunderstanding, or some employee or perhaps more than one employee, letting good customer service fall thru the cracks. While I personally have never dealt with Southland, we have no less than 3 very close friends that have used them to build their homes, and all 3 could not say enough good things about them and their experiences. I'll bet you, if you get hold of the proper upper level management, your problem could be resolved very easily. My friends have all told me that they were completely and 100% responsive to their every concern thru out their dealings with them. Very reputable company.

Don't do it!
I fell for their sales gimmicks of a turn key quality home at an affordable price and this has been the worst experience of my life my doctor has even had to put me on blood pressure medication because of this ordeal.
I honestly don’t see how a custom home builder who has supposedly built hundreds of homes could possibly mess up so many things so many times on just my home alone.
I don’t think they are capable of producing a quality home ”on the first or second try”
If you don’t visit the build site and take pictures every day then you wont know what is hiding just around the corner.

I wanted to give everyone an update on our issue of Southland not refunding the total $2500 we paid them in March. It was necessary for me to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission, the Attorney Generals of both Florida and Georgia, and the Dept of Professional Licenses in Georgia. Due to the efforts of the Attorney General of Georgia, Southland finally returned our money it total. Again, buyer beware!

While on your site Iwas surprised by some blogs about our company. While not perfect for thirty years we have kept the same name and built thousands of dream homes. We always try to do right by our customer, our community and our employees. We have an open door policy and I am available by phone(7704282320)or Email(sbeagle@southlandcustomhomes.com)to everyone.Once Barbara24 situation was brought to my attention the $1500 balance of her custom plan fee was immediately refunded.I encourage anyone with questions or concerns about Southland Custom Homes to contact me directly and I apologize for any problems or misunderstandings.Sincerely,Steve Beagle, president.
