Smile Moving to Cumming from NJ..info needed

Hello,
My family and I are considering moving to GA this summer. The Cumming area has been strongly suggested by realtors and I am looking for any feedback on this area. I am a stay at home mom to three children ages 51/2, 4 and 1yr. My husband will most likely be working in the Alpharetta area. I love where I live in NJ so I know the move will be hard and I would really like to hear from some people who live there!!

Thanks Debbie...what part of jersey?? We live in Lincroft. What area of Cumming are you moving to?? We visited GA recently and looked at a bunch of homes. Most of the ones we are considering are in the north Forsyth area. I hear that the Cumming schools are good but would like to hear from someone first hand. I am also a bit nervous about living so far from everything. I have to say that everyone we met was very friendly and most neighbors came out to greet us as we visited homes. The realtors are really talking up this area but I am hoping to hear what "True Georgia residents" are hearing. It's just such a big move, I want to make sure it's right! Keep in touch, maybe we'll be neighbors!!

Cumming is an exurban extension of the Golden pathway or the GA 400 corrider. Along the highway you'll find posh and swanky buckhead, upscale Sandy Springs, Suburban Transplant heaven Alpharetta, and the upper class up and comer Forsyth County. Forsyth is very nice and is experiencing tremendous growth. It doesn't come without the negative effects of sprawl and loss of character (that small town southern charm you might be looking for) But it's a great place to start out around here, I;d recommend a move there if you really like it.

I moved to Georgia almost 2 years ago, and currently live (Forsyth county) and work (Fulton county) in Alpharetta. I love it out here! I live in Alpharetta with the benefit of cheaper taxes for Forsyth County. Forsyth county is really growing. There are new subdivisions within varying price points being constructed....Ryland, McCar, Pulte, Centex, Sharp Residential...just some of the builders. Alpharetta is a great area to work also. There are many Fortune 500 companies with branches in Alpharetta. Great area to live and work!

400 is usually a nightmare for many commuters, but that may or may not be an issue for your husband. I live off exit 12 and work off 9. On a good day it takes 10mins to get to work. Normally with traffic about 20 (not bad!).

I have family in NJ that are trying to relocate to ATL also....

How's the commute from Cumming to downtown ATL? I know it's about 30 miles out, but that means very little.
