most everything new that opens closes with in a year. The hole town is full of new movie theaters and other bussiness that have opened and could not survive the the first year.

Im sorry you have had a bad time here, but i have been living in Columbus for 15 years. and not once hae my house been broken into or have ibeen robbed. Yes we have crime and drugs but its not as bad as you make it seem. Its not as if every time you turn around someone is getting shot or you see a druggie. That is not even the case. columbus is growing. You must not get out very much to see that. Also you must not be that concerned about coffee because there are 4 starbucks here 1. Manchester expressway, 2.Veterans parkway and 3. Downtown in inside of the Marriott and there is even one on Ft. Benning on Marne rd.

I had to laugh at back-to-back complaints that there are too many "chain type places" and then not enough Starbucks.

For good Chinese food try Chef Lee's. It's a regular stop for me whenever I'm in the area.

I know it makes no sense at all. There several locally owned coffee places Downtown and in the malls. Some people will complain about anything.

I've been all over Columbus, was over in the bad parts of town today even. Usually during the middle of the day you will have no problems even in the very worst parts of town. Now into the evening and night, it's every man for himself.

Most of the areas South of the immediate downtown are pretty rough. Sure, there are a lot of nice houses in the grid of the historic district, but you should really look at what you're getting in to. Phenix City over in Alabama was notorious for its crime back in the day.

All in all, there are good parts of town, and there are bad parts. The North side of the City is probably your safest place, along I-185 is developed with plenty of newer construction (typical suburbia type), but it doesn't take long for the nothingness to appear just outside of town. Ft. Benning blocks Southward development, and once you get passed the base theres a void from Cusseta and all points South with little to no development.

I think Columbus is lucky enough to not have but one Interstate (I-185). It limits the amount of destructive sprawl that can take place (with the negative factor being traffic).

There are other towns and communities such as Auburn, Opelika, Pine Mountain, Buena Vista, Tuskegee, La Grange, Manchester, Warms Springs and others. There are more that 600,000 people in the area who are enjoying area and I am sorry that you can't.

What knew movie theater has opened and closed in a year? Hopefully you can name at least one. Do you believe that Columbus is the only city that have had some failed businesses? You have to have a good business plan not just a good idea.

Are you military? The only reason why I asked is because I see you are counting down the days until you will be able to leave. I use to do the same thing when I was in the military. The old count down thing. I stopped, because it was making me miserable. Then I went out and enjoyed the area where I was stationed at the time (ex Air Force). By the way, an alarm system will keep the criminals at bay while you are out at play.

I know quite a few execs, business owners, lawyers and doctors, none of them refer to Columbus as the arm pit of west central GA. But they do refer to Columbus as the Hub of this area. I suppose the right deodorant has made the arm pits smell great. The cup is half full, what say you? By the way, very few people are interested in your racist web site.

I said out of town execs not ones living here and actually for your information I have gotten numerous positive direct messages thanking me for the website information which is about corruption not racism.
Columbus has a pile of dirty laundry and sweeping it under the carpet is not the way to address these problems.

Columbus is not a bad place to live. Just like all places, you have to know where to live and what areas to avoid.
