Default Dacula

We are looking to buy a house. We like a house in the Delmar subdivision off Harbins and 316. Can anyone offer any advice on this area?

-Crime?

-Where is the nearest super market, walmart, target, and hospital?

We both work in Decatur.

How is the traffice towards Decatur in the mornings.
How is the traffice towards Dacula in the evenings(Harbins/316)?

Any other areas recommended to buy a house and raise a family?
Thank you

Rakki

Have you looked at the neighborhoods closer to Decatur?

There will be a good bit of traffic commuting to and from Decatur.

Your commute to Decatur is going to be a long one witth the metro Atlanta traffic; probably around an hour one way down 316 to I85 to I285; better get up early.
Are you committed to the subdivision you are looking at? That is a nice quiet area but 316 is constantly growing and will be built up over the next decade.
There are some very nice upscale neighborhoods in Dekalb County, but they are pretty much all older homes. It is similar to living in Atlanta on the outskirts.
I would think that you might entertain moving to Gwinnett a little more east so you could drive down Hwy. 78 to Decatur. This would be an easier route. They have some of the best schools and the whole area is great. Hwy.124/Hwy78 area would probably be the best commute for you; 30 to 45 minutes down 78, depending on traffic, to Decatur is a lot better option for you.
There is no straight shot where you are looking in Dacula.
Hope this helps...Bill

Nothing is impressive and the cost is very high? OR the cost is so high that now you don't find our part of town impressive? Easier for us to help if you give us $ requirements. Your commute is going to be pretty pretty rough on the 85 stretch during rush hour, upwards of 30 hours from where you get on till 2 hours depending on weather and car wrecks. The 285 stretch is easy, but then remember Decatur is rather isolated from highways so you get surface streets to travel on too.

We live just down the road from DelMar and 2 of my children go to Harbins Elementary. We have been living here since August, and we love it! I also happen to know one of the builders there at Delmar; he has nothing but great things to say about the sub.

Best wishes!

The nearest walmart is in Winder, which is about 6 miles away. There are supermarkets there as well, and a Publix on Dacula Rd about 5 miles away. As for crime...what crime?! :-)
Now Hwy 316 is HORRIBLE.... but, you can find alternatives...ie Hwy 29 or Hwy 78.

The nearest hospital would be Gwinnett Medical in Lawrenceville, and I think there is one in Winder as well.
