I had a friend whose parents would use the 'city of conception' for their childrens' middle names...my friend's middle name was Evanston, and his sisters' were Nice and Acapulco.

It's a good thing conception didn't occur in Thunder Bay, Ontario; Fertile, Minnesota; Climax, Georgia; Deep Gap, Tennessee; Thong, UK; Pecker's Point, Newfoundland; Knockerdown, UK; Mount Mee, Australia; Clap Hill, UK; Bastard, Norway; Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; Big Ugly, West Virginia; Zzyzx, California; or some other place with an unusual name.

I know i am late to the game, but in case someone reads this later on...
1. my name is georgia (so i have good authority on the topic)
2. georgia is not southern; it is a greek name -- please do not classify my beautiful name as 'southern' just because there happens to be a state in the United States...
3. it would be EXTREMELY cruel to name your child georgia in the state of georgia; i grew up in new jersey and was teased all throughout school (to the point where my nickname was alabama -- and that was used on a regular basis)
it took me a long time to love my name, which i do, but my name is a family name -- my parents had a strong reason to give it to me (after my grandmother). but to live in GA and name your kid GA -- that's asking for trouble...

Nothing wrong with the name Georgia at all. It's certainly refreshing among the millions of babies being named Brittney, Emily, and names where the parents take a last name and make it a first name. When did the last names of former Presidents like McKinley become girl's first names?

You should make her middle name Bulldog.
Georgia Bulldog
That would be awesome, as long as she lived around Athens!

Ok, I am also late, but, Georgia is a wonderful name. And as a bonus, there is that wonderful Ray Charles song that can be hers. You couldn't say that if you named your daughter something like Massachusetts. Now that would have been cruel.
