I don't know if any of you have seen this, but on the city of valdosta's website you can watch traffic througout the city in real time. The coolest part about it is that you actually get to control the direction of the camera.

They've been up for a couple of years now but I haven't played with it much. I just got back into town and stopped by the office for a minute and pulled up the site. What's pretty neat is I can pull up the camera in front of my office and watch cars coming up the street, then see them when they pass in front of my window.

anyhow, go to Valdosta Traffic Website to see it.

When you mouse-over a camera icon, it will bring up a quick display but if you click on the camera, it opens a window with a pull-down box giving you directional options to point the camera. You get control of it for maybe 15 seconds then you're cut off. Some times they will say "not available" and I think that means someone else is controlling it at the moment. Valdosta has a very cool state-of-the-art traffic management system that's worth reading about if you're interested in that sort of thing. Its even linked to the railroad crossings to redirect emergency vehicles if a train is blocking an intersection.

The site or page where the live traffic cams were on is not working it is a shame I loved viewing them years ago
