Transfer, you might want to put this under the Georgia thread. Brunswick is a long way from Atlanta.
That being said, Brunswick is probably not too gay friendly, but I would hardly think it would be hostile. I am pretty sure there is no gay bar there. It is a very small town on the Coast, midway between Savannah and the Florida line. The barrier islands off of Brunswick include some of the most expensive real estate on the East Coast (Sea Island, St. Simmons) and Brunswick is pretty much their de-facto "City" so to speak, but be ready for a very slow pace.
Our beloved LovinDecatur frequents this area, so she will hopefully chime in here.

If anyone can answer your questions it's LD but I think she is traveling at present.
St Simon's is quaint and low key.

Oh, I forgot. She IS in route to Europe for a quick meet-up with her husband.
I'm sure she has her laptop with her!

Moving to the Georgia room as it's not related to metro Atlanta.

Brunswick is surprisingly gay-friendly. I won't deny that it has its' share of Bubbas, but I've got gay friends down there that are as out as out can be and they don't report any problems.
Forgive me if the following statement sounds like I'm stereotyping gay men: it's not my intention.
With the upscale communities of St Simons and Sea Islands across the causeway, there is a flourishing community of artists, florists, stylists, antiquarians, interior designers and 'service people'...all being vocations that enjoy a high correlation to being 'gay'.
The downside is that the gays that I know live a pretty low-key existence, so being new to the area, you might encounter some difficulty in finding 'Friends of Dorothy' right away...but just turn on your gaydar and you eventually will.
St Marks Episcopal is in downtown Brunswick and has a lively singles program...I know a lot of members of that church, and I'm certain that they would welcome a gay couple with open arms.
There is quite a housing price differential between the mainland and the islands...$300M won't get you much on the latter. If you're a fan of older neighborhoods, In the city of Brunswick, I would have you look around the Union St area (great Victorians, reasonable prices) and Windsor Park (mostly 20's - 30's era houses).
