To me, Columbus has enough shopping, restaurants and outdoor activities to satisfy me in those particular areas, but when it comes to "night life" the lack of clubs (and lack of a beautiful downtown skyline to marvel at while ridin at night..........and lack of busy interstates)....just made the place seem very rural to me man.
lol Yea I know a skyline doesnt make a city.....but the lack of that and the interstates just adds to "sleepy" or "lack luster" feel the city had to me, in my opinion.
But again I will say Columbus is a nice place to raise a family in...but not to have a good time if you're a single young person.

Can't see why you think there are no bars or clubs in Columbus. Have you not been downtown, Suite 23, H2O, etc? There are tons of bars in Columbus man, come on. Downtown is slammed every weekend with young bar goers, etc.

Let me give you an example, we have a nice shopping center called Eisenhower Crossing. It's nice, but in Macon it's just referred to as...you know..just another nice shopping area.
When I got to Columbus, all I heard was "THE STRIP MALL" this...."THE STRIP MALL" that.....
I finally got a chance to check it out...and basically it was another "Eisenhower Crossing"
The simple display of how people in Columbus were so excited and went on and on about what was referred to as a "STRIP MALL" there...that was basically the same thing as "Eisenhower Crossing" (which Macon people do not even really mention much)....just goes to show me personally how little there is there.
Not to mention when there was this Big concert there where an R&B singer refused to perform in Columbus and called the place "too small for her ".....(which was wrong of her) people in Columbus were saying how wrong it was because Columbus hadnt had a concert of that magnitude there before and blah blah.....
I was puzzled because the size of that particular show that went on in Columbus that night, goes on in Macon all the time.
We actually have a "celebrity tuesdays" at a place in Macon....does Columbus have something like that?
I mean it does have some things but definetly not the type of things you expect from a city of its populaton
Come on man go to somewhere like Dayton, Toledo, Huntsville (Bama), Chattanooga,
they have way more things than Columbus dude!!!

Eisenhower Xing is much, much smaller than Columbus Park. The 2 don't even compare. Columbus shopping is spread out. Like I said, you must have never got out much.

Coming from a young person's point of view:
I attended Columbus State University. My experience in Columbus has been very boring! There's nothing to do. The northside of Columbus and downtown are the only nice spots. Everywhere else is terrible (ghetto). Columbus is trying to do a little progression. They are fixing up the buildings downtown. Ft. Benning is really what makes Columbus the size that it is. The job economy is terrible. I spent several months trying to find a job but that's everywhere also.
I've never been to Savannah. But from what I have heard, it seems like a very nice city. I heard that Savannah also has bad parts but almost every city does. Plus, it's near the ocean. Which may be a bad thing because of hurricanes!
So my pick would be Savannah. My experience in Columbus was awful.

Thank you Nikki for your factual and honest post.....
I would like to note that the job economy in Columbus has always been bad and poverty level is reaching as high as 24 percent.

The recent poll taken at Benning reflected the same attitude towards the city as being very inactive and slanted.
My wife and I attended a recent graduation at the base and there is so much more available than the local area which looks very dated compared to where we live.

Exactly, there is no poll. All propaganda to try to make things look bad ROFL! This guy is grasping for straws just like that "other" poster we all know.
