Whoopie do!!! Columbus makes pretty in pics. Still nothing to do. Savannah all the way.
Both of the bases Moderator cut: PG-13 please . I hear nothing but complaints from anyone who is or has ever been stationed at either one. The area of Savannah is just more conducive to what you requested in a home.
Columbus itself is nice but I never liked it enough to find a reason to stay. Columbus equals Hinesville add one river, however many people are needed to make up the population difference and you got the same place without quite as many rolling hills.

If you prefer rolling hills for hiking, then the Columbus area. There's plenty of fishing, hunting, camping and boating in the Columbus area. Also, Columbus does not have that nagging gnat problem Savannah is plagued with, so you can enjoy being outdoors. Although Columbus is humid in the summer (this is the Southeast) but, it's not nearly as bad as the Savannah area. From what I have read about the two school systems, there is little difference between them, except Columbus has a higher graduation rate, which to me is very important.

I will say it again, Columbus is garbage. Deacon acts as if I cant see those same types of things in the other 2nd Tier Cities. You can see people from the other cities posting pics of their museums, parks, architecture, etc within their towns. Columbus is slow-paced and boring, which is why it is garbage to me.

Columbus is a city of 170-180,000+, with the amenities of a city of 75,000. Limited night life, shopping, and overall feeling of being in a "metro" city. It's lacking in that department.

The person who posted wants to fish, hunt, enjoy the outdoors and get a good education for his children. It seems to me, he can care less about how fast the people are moving in Columbus or Savannah. Which honestly, neither is setting any records as a fast pace city. I will give Savannah this much credit, for a city its size it does have a large number places to get drunk. If that's what you mean by slow paced, then... Savannah wins, by a land slide.

Columbus is closure to 200,000 and has amenities of a city much larger. Have you not seen the RiverCenter, Civic Center, etc??? No 2nd tier city in GA has anything that can compare to that.
