Anyone who says Columbus has more to offer than Savannah and Augusta are being major homers.

But the city is certainly not "garbage"...that's just an angry bitter statement that has nothing to do with the actual city of Columbus. Wherever you live, it's only as slow-paced or fast-paced as you make it. If you say there is nothing to do, then you obviously aren't doing anything to find out.

Columbus isn't as popular as Savannah, but it's much better to live. Columbus is ranked as #4 the best family to raise a family. Columbus will add 30,000 soldiers soon, which means that jobs will be created. Columbus is the best choice for living, Savannah if you like beaches.

As far as that gnat problem, its not really an issue on the west side of town. Its only when you are close to the salt water & marshes, therefore it is more of a problem on the east side and islands.
As far as summer heat & humidity, its nearly the same. Heat is heat.

I have been to both places in the summer. The humidity in Savannah is stifling, even by Columbus' standards. That gnat problem starts in Statesboro and it's down hill from there. Besides, the gentleman will be out in nature, hunting, fishing and camping, so unless he is willing to put up with the flying biting gnats and flies... As for the heat, I lived in Arizona for a while, now that's heat, dry but unbearable heat nonetheless. It's even worse than Savannah. At least in Savannah I knew I was sweating. It's late and I have started rambling. Good night.

Statesboro?? No way. I've lived on the west side of Savannah for a while and never endured any gnats. Mosquitoes are a different story but thats anywhere. And anyway, as was stated, he'll be hunting so he will be dealing with bugs anyway.. no matter what kind or where in Georgia he decides to live. Bugs could practically swallow all of South Georgia in the summertime.
As for the heat, you must be very sensitive to the slightest differences because I haven't noticed much of one. They are both hot in the summer with high humidities..especially compared to Arizona. Dry heat beats humidity any day IMO.

"GET REAL" ATLCOL1, That is not true, Macon has the Globe Theater, Macon City Auditorium, Cox Capitol Theatre,Grand Opera House, Douglass Theatre and Macon Coliseum/Centreplex and convention center(which the largest Facility of its kind outside Atlanta). The RiverCenter and Civic Center doesn't compare.....
SO STOP THE HYPE
Man there are so many in Augusta,Savannah and Macon that hasn't even been a consideration for Columbus. the only thing Columbus has is the nearly 200,000 pop and thats because of county/city consolidations

To be honest I think, I like Savannah. Overall, I want to settle in a city that is a little faster, with a little more to do than Macon. Savannah is that and Augusta is that. I THOUGHT Columbus was that based on population alone. You get to Columbus only to find a city that is more sleepy, boring, with less to do than Macon. That is why I feel Columbus is CRAP.
Everything Columbus to name to get into, Macon has as well. Macon has something Columbus doesnt have though. The feel of a city. Columbus = extra country
