LOL....Man this is getting stupid. So now you're saying that Monroe County is a part of Macon. Maybe if you knew what city-limits meant, you would understand that you can't call the county or another county Macon until a consolidation. You also say that Columbus feels like Valdosta and Albany, that's a lie! Just get through your head that Columbus is more progressive than Macon...it doesn't take rocket sceince to see where the jobs are going to be in the next few years.

Be realistic.
Ask yourself this question, does Columbus feel more like
cities that have a similar population to itself, or does it feel more like a
city of 50,000-100,000?
Columbus feels more like Macon, Albany GA or Valdosta, than it does Chattanooga,
Baton Rouge, Winston-Salem NC, Rochester NY, Mobile AL, or most of the other cities with
similar population to itself.
To be honest, It doesnt even have to be a city with as high of a population of Columbus to
feel bigger.
I have never visited or traveled through a city with the population of Columbus, GA
that feels as rural as it does.

If there is another city out there with even 125,000 or more people that feels as RURAL as Columbus, please name them. I've rode through or visited several and I cant think of ONE.

Exactly.
Columbus is a product of its surrounding areas(rural, low income, lack of education) and this will always be the primary reason the city will have chronic problems in growth due to racism, poverty, unemployment, low graduate rates and many other issues too lengthy to post as we have dealt with many clients locally over the years who made these same statements.
I hear excuses on here that every city has these issues but every city has civic centers, corporate offices, etc as well so what is the logic?
You folks sure you live in Columbus?

Can anyone tell me about the Technology Park in East Columbus, we rode by it on our way back to Macon and it seemed to interest me. What is exactly over there? I didn't know that it was there before.

Actually the name is a little misleading as their are no tech companies located there.
Fed Ex relocated there from miller road.

Technology Park is an industrial park. Only a few industries are located there. The land was acquired from Fort Benning, GA in a land swap, hence it was forest covered with rolling hills. Currently Cessna Aircraft, Litho-Krome Co which is own by Hallmark Cards and UPS are located in the industrial park. Both Cessna and Litho-Krome are high tech industries. I suppose, I need to take a ride out there again to see if there's any other industries located in the park.

I've worked in the airline industry for 20+ years. Why should I be familiar with the financial world?
