To anyone who is thinking of moving to Tampa Florida, don't bother. I live near Tampa and the economy and job market is crap. So many companies have gone belly up and even minimum wage jobs are hard to find. I am thinking of moving out of Florida but other states aren't any better. After a year and a half of job interviews and filling out applications, the only job I could get was a part time 30 hour a week job. No benefits with it.
Georgia may not be a paradise but don't think it is better anywhere else. Florida isn't the paradise some think. Prices have gone up and renting or buying a house have skyrocketed too. I was trying to find a cheaper apartment but even the rat holes are expensive now.

So not moving because I don't want my husband to be miserable is pathetic? The economy is not so good and moving now would be a bad decision is pathethic? Your posts are so helpful and insightful ...more sarcasm in case you missed it .

Thanks for that perspective. Yes, the economy is pretty bad just about everywhere. Definitely not a good time to make any life changing decisions.

Who said I was talking about you? You seem perfectly well adjusted in your general outlook. More sarcasm in case you missed it.

Ummm, you specifically quoted my reply. Who else would you be talking to? This is getting really silly. The title of the post implies that people will be expressing their displeasure with certain aspects of living in GA. If you don't want to read the "incessant whining", why do you continue to open this thread? You have added nothing of value to the discussion. It's a really simple concept that I don't think needs to be explained.

I am happy here in GA. Everyone complains about the educational system here in GA. I do understand some of the complaints
|
Hi - Could you be specific some what the complaints are.
In you option do you feel that it would be a detriment to a child's education to transfer them from a Northeast public school to a good public school in GA?
Thanks for your options.

Georgia isn't nearly as bad as Texas and I'm not usually a 'grass is greener on the other side' kind of person.

Although I told her that I was raised a Seventh Day Adventist and if I were to go to church, it would likely be an SDA church, that didn't seem to matter. She has extended several invitations since then. As friendly as she is, when I talk to her I always hold my breath waiting for her to bring it up again. They really don't seem to care, or maybe aren't aware, that their prying makes you uncomfortable.
Another time I was in Oconee county at a craft show and this older lady whom I had never met or seen before in my life walked up to me and asked me if I go to church. I told her no expecting that to be the end of it. It wasn't. She said she would pray for me and I smiled politely and said OK thinking she meant in church on Sunday. NO! She grabbed my hand and started praying right there in the middle of the craft fair. I was horrified. Who do these people think they are, honestly? My salvation is my concern. Not anyone else's.
..and that's just one of my issues with Georgia. I could go on but I'm getting upset already.

I like the door to door types such as the jehovah's witnesses. I used to get visited all the time and yes, I have been prayed for on a few occasions. I guess when they flip a few agnostics or other religious types, they get brownie points with their church. However, I have placed a Buddha statue on my porch that seems to have thwarted visitors. One of the many reasons I wish to leave the "bible belt". (Lately you could also call it the "gangsta belt")
