Default Husband Transferring to Milledgeville -Advice Needed

My husband has accepted a position in Milledgeville, Ga. We are planning a move there or in the surronding areas within the next few months. We have a 5 year old son and we are struggling with the decision on where to live - we have discussed Milledgeville and Macon. Schools are a big concern for me as well as safety (especially after reading all the posts about the crime in Macon). Any advice would be helpful.

Hi,
I relocated from Milledgeville app. 7 months ago because of my husband's new job. We lived there for app. 2 years in The Oaks at Willow Lake Subdivision. We loved it. It was quiet and the neighbors were wonderful.
I personnally do not like Macon, it's too spread out and the traffic is awful certain times of the day.
I don't have school age kids, but I have heard there are several good schools, my neighbors both had kids-one couple sent their's to the Millitary School and the other couple sent their's to the public school nearby and stated that's why they had bought a house in The Oaks subdivision. There is also a private school in Milledgeville.
Good Luck and Hope you enjoy Milledgeville.

Try this:

On the right you can click on an "Elementary School" data set and it will show you either students exceeding expectations or students below expectations, depending on which you pick. Hope this helps!

I would certainly choose Millegeville over Macon. Macon has some excellent medical facilities, but there is a crime problem there to be sure.

Schools in Georgia are iffy no matter what or where. Sad.

Maybe you have moved already but I want you to know that the schools in Gray are excellent by Georgia standards...much better than M'ville, unfortunately.
