Relocating From California to Atlanta Area - Need Info Re: Autism/Developmentally Delayed Adult Resources & Funding
My other half is thinking about taking a job in the Atlanta.
I have a 40 year old sister (autistic, epileptic, developmentally delayed) who will be moving with us. I am very concerned about the availability of funding for her (outside of SSI), structured day programs (I understand there are 6,000 folks like her waiting to enter day programs with upto 2 year wait), availability and quality of medical, dental and respite care.
Various GA county and state government reps have simply stated that
programs, services and funding do not compare to what California has to offer.
Your candid personal experience as a parent, family member, care provider of autistic/dd adult in Georgia is greatly appreciated.
