Default Snow skiing area in Dawsonville

Ok so last year or so I read about a manmade ski area they were planning on building in Dawsonville near the Outlet mall. This was to be huge and encompass a very large area extending to the lake. I imagine the economy has stopped this plan in its tracks. Has anyone heard anymore about it? I love the way they make big news about something like this and put it in the paper and then it virtually disappears. Any news on the supposed Target in that area too? I have yet to see any porgress. Just wondering.

Well, I was in Dahlonega last week and a couple of the shop owners told me the outlet mall is not doing very well at all. Sales down A LOT in the last few months. So my guess is any plans for ski resorts are shot to hell for good.

A Target most likely might make it up there, but I know they are a bit slower lately getting out new stores due to the economy as well. The company I work for full time is construction-related and I do believe they got plans at one point for one up in that area. Stores like Target and Walmart weather economic storms much better than most others - sometimes even making MORE money in bad times, as people look for cheap alternatives.

So my guess - no ski resort. Yes, eventually, a Target.
