Default Relocating to Glynco-have questions

Hello everyone,

I recently accepted a job offer at the FLETC in Glynco and will be relocating from Michigan. I'm looking for advice on where to live. I've researched the threads on this forum, but still have questions.

I'm a single-parent with an 8-yr old daughter. I'm looking for a safe neighborhood with good schools that is affordable..aren't we all?
I'd like to keep the commute under 45 minutes. I'll be traveling to the area at the end of the month to take a look around. Also, I prefer newer construction, rather than older homes.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, or has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

go to exit 38 off i-95; get off and go east about 300 yds, then turn left on glynco pkwy. go north about 1 mile and turn left on harry driggers blvd. there's some nice houses out there, and they're in the boundaries for the good elementary/middle schools.

your commute to work would be about 5 minutes.

if you don't mind a long drive, you could always go look on st. simons for a place. the drive to work would be 25 minutes, maybe, depending on which area of the island you would live. its more expensive than the mainland, but its beautiful.

there's a couple of realty companies that deal mostly with the islands that have really good websites; do a google search for st. simons real estate.

Thank you for the reply.. I'll check that area out when I go down there. I've found some realtor info online and the new developments, The Plantation and The Estates at Golden Isles, look promising. Do you know if these are in the same area you are referring to?

Also, I've checked the Glynn County Schools website, but can't find any info about this.. do the schools offer a latch-key program, or some type of after school activities for students with working parents?

Thanks again!

Yes they're pretty much in the same area; those two neighborhoods are on the west side of 95, and those i mentioned are on the east side.

The plantation & estates neighborhoods are probably 10 minutes away from FLETC.

I can't offer any information on the school programs; I don't live in the area, I just go there to relax a bit.
