It's nice. It was one of the first large master planned communities in the country. It's in South suburban Atlanta, in Fayette County - about 30 minutes South of the Airport in good traffic.

It is a solidly middle/upper middle class area with quite a good reputation. They are known for thier 80+ miles of golf paths and the fact that you can ride your golf cart to shop, dine, visit the doctor, do business at City Hall, etc. There are many, many airline employees there due to easy access to the Airport. The schools are supposed to be pretty good, and Fayette County as a whole is one of the nicest in the State.

Word of advice - a forumer named dudewithaplan will probably chime in and trash the place. Ignore him.

Well johnatl, have you actually LIVED there? I have, and I had unpleasant experiences, so I mention them when someone asks about the place. I did not care for the conservative feel of PTC, nor did I feel accepted by the other people who lived there. I was in the school system and did not feel I got the help I needed with math and science (which I needed the most help with). If you do not agree with me so be it, but that does not mean my experiences are not valid.

I have lived in Peachtree City since 99 and in Fayette County since 98. Our family has absolutely loved it. We have been in the school system all the while and found them great about stepping up to the plate with any needs we have asked of them. We have a child with autism and a gifted student so we have had to ask for different accomodations for both .
I love the fact it is a beautiful and well kept city. I greatly appreciate the sign ordinances and other things this cummunity does to keep it looking great and clean. Having lived in other towns all over the state and U.S where everything was treated like trash and not very attractive - this place is refreshing.
The golf carts and golf cart paths are totally awsome. I cannot say enough about them.

I looked at PTC and East Cobb County when I had to move to ATL. I chose East Cobb due to the school system and being able to live on the river. PTC is a very good choice, especially if you have or plan to have children. It is a family-oriented community, safe, clean, almost a Disney-esque feel to the planned community. Conservative and strong middle class values.

Snobbish overrated place in the middle of nowhere with perverse enforcement of ordinances and various money generating laws. If you like tea parties and gardening 24/7 (else you just get yelled at and fined for not keeping up with the neighbors) you might like it.
