Greenville's metro area is just as large as Charleston and we don't have those retailers, but we do have Whole Foods Market, Chipotle, Ruth's Chris, Hyatt, and Westin.

^Don't hold your breath on Macon getting ANYTHING new in 2010, or perhaps even later.

They don't need to be made. Beside, Charleston is known for its old money, which is why you see all of those luxury stores. Kind of surprised that New Orleans doesn't have a Gucci, Marc by Marc Jacobs, or even a Tiffany's or Hermes.
Anyway, Baton Rouge landed a good amount of upscale stores at Perkins Rowe (BCBG, Anthropologie, Sur La Table, Z Gallerie, etc.).

I predict maybe one of the four centers becomes a reality.
Ruth's Chris is not coming to Macon, trust me on that one. You guys don't have the disposable income to support such a thing.
No worries though, just save that kind of experience up for your visits to places like your Capital City.

NewtownMacon forgot about the Macon Mall which is losing stores left and right thanks to the Shoppes at Rivercrossing. Oops.
