Florida has become very expensive to live...Though I make a good salary in the IT world its still a struggle...my wife and I are considering moving to Alpharetta because of it's excellent schools and IT firms...does anyone have any info that would help a newbie to this area...thanks

I would advise moving to Forsyth County and working in Alpharetta. School system is excellent, housing/taxes MUCH less expensive than Alpharetta, and a commute to Alpharetta is not onerous from Forsyth, particularily the southern part. Jobs in Forsyth County pay about 1/3rd of Alpharetta jobs, so do not attempt to work in the county ($10/hr job offer for a degreed/experienced employee not uncommon). Alpharetta offers MUCH better pay with a relatively short commute.

You'll be in good company because half the people I meet are from S. Florida. We moved ourselves a little over a year ago for the same reasons. I agree with the above poster, Forsyth would be less expensive to live. And parts of Alpharetta are in Forsyth county. That's something you'll have to get used to here. One city can be in several different counties.
