Default Georgia Metropolitan Growth

Here is a nifty table listing all of the metropolitan and micropolitan areas in the order of most populous to least populous. It also shows the percentage change from 2000 to the latest census estimates from 2007.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Table_o...tistical_areas

Georgia metro areas with the greatest percentage growth is as follows:

1. Metro Atlanta: Up 23.70% from 2000 (10th biggest metro area overall in US)
2. Athens Metro: Up 12.87%
3. Savannah Metro: Up 9.93%
4. Brunswick metro: Up 9.40%
5. Macon metro: Up 8.33%
6. Augusta metro : Up 5.78%
7. Albany metro: Up 3.94%
8. Columbus metro: Up 3.48%

This ranking is not by overall population but rather by largest percentage gain in population. these 8 metro areas are all of the metros in Georgia of atleast 100,000 ppl.

Good post.
Certainly reinforced the point that people are not migrating to Columbus as there are so many better areas for employment, entertainment etc.

I thought Columbus was the ultimate hot spot utopia everyone moved to? Even Albany is above it.

Most of Columbus' metro growth is in Lee County, Alabama in Smiths Station. Unfortunately, Lee Co. is not part of Columbus's MSA....yet. I imagine it might be by 2010. Sooooo...the numbers don't give Columbus justice since most of the metro growth is happening across the river.

... Look at the table:
Actually these numbers include Lee County, AL as well as Auburn-Opelika.
I was rather surprised that Clumbus saw the least growth... I was also surprised how well Macon-Warner Robins did.

It's sourced to the US census .. click on the source at the bottom... this table simply formats it into a more usable form.
Wikipedia is a perfectly fine resource for information, so long as the article sources its material from reliable and unbiased parties.

Yes you are right about Dalton.and the others.. I just stopped at metro areas over atleast 100,000ppl... also Statesboro had double digit growth too..actually it was the fastest growing place in the state outside of metro Atlanta at over 18% for the time period. I think the growth of Georgia Southern University had a lot to do with that.
