You seriously need to consider renting here first, even if only for 3-6 months.

Just moving here from South Florida in January, there are slew of bills you have to pay. We had to put a deposit for water, sprinkler, gas, and garbarge.
My husband's paycheck also changed with the State Income tax.

There's also getting your license, changing registration on cars (haven't done that yet)

Good luck!

First, ask your realtor if they have utility contact info for your property. Our realtor provided us with a list of contact info for electrical, gas, water, garbage, cable, etc. Some of these utilities actually have more than one company option. We live in West Cobb and I think we had a couple different companies available for natural gas and for garbage.

Our garbage bill is around $50 for 3 months, if that helps (picks up once a week).

It would be a good idea to call the utility companies ahead of time to figure out what connection fees, deposits, etc you can expect. Some companies waive deposits depending on your credit.

They may waive deposits, but they charge for the connection, as we found out!

Can you call your real estate agent who represented you-not the seller?

If you are buying a new home, the agent on site or the agent you used (if you had one )can get you a list of all utilities and they will be able to give you a guessimate. Usuall trash pick up will range around $15.00 or so a month but ask the agent you purchased from to get you a list or if ytou see a neighbor outside in the community you are moving to...ask them!
