I think that there should be a wind farm in every state.

i don't know much about wind farms, but if I were going to build one I would do it in a state known for having high winds. Not that it can't be done in Georgia, but I would think the better choice to be in the Great plains states. Renewable Energy Center
This is what I got off wikipedia.com:
"The Great Plains states have an abundance of suitable sites for wind energy development [29] however the region's potential is still largely untapped. Iowa and Minnesota are leading the Midwest in the development of wind energy with their combined capacities expected to reach 2,000 MW in 2007. The Pacific Northwest and the Northeast both have many excellent sites as well. In contrast, the Southeast has very poor wind energy resources, though the Appalachian Mountains do provide a few good areas."

A wind farm is always an excellent idea, ( but, I hear that people who have to live under them are not so pleased). As long as its up on a mountain or hill top and getting plenty of sustained wind, then it will do well.
If I had the ground, and had the sustained wind, I would opt for windmills myself. But, being a valley dweller, we dont get such wind, and only on occasion, so its not worth it to have it around my neck of the woods.
Unfortunately, solar is still too expensive and wind power is too, unless you have a lot of bucks to invest, or can get reimbursed from the Government.
May the LORD Bless each of you.
I wish you well...
Jesse

Why would it not be a good idea?

no. ugly, expensive, do not produce enough power to make them worthy.
GA power is about to begin the construction of a new nuke plant, for which we all love it. If i am going to be paying higher costs, it might as well be for something that will actually produce power, not make some treehugger happy for a day!

The wind only blows all the time west of the Mississippi or however you spell that crooked river.
