You got some 'splainin to do.
I'm sure I should know and all that nonsense, but what's a mccar home?
I've been looking at rv's all day, therefor "motorcarhome" is the only quess I have inbrain.
By the way, if the Ford truck comes built in, you know what I'm sayin, Ethel, the "motorcarhome" (ha) I wanted costs enough to buy a small farm. Very small, but still.

I have a HUGE master closet, again, vs. the bigger homes with smaller ones than mine. And, from all the homes I've visited, my mainfloor powder rooms is the biggest. So, it's a give-n-take on what's important. I had the tiniest laundry room in my old house, so, having this huge one with a family of 5 made me dance when we bought the house. (silly thing to get excited over...I know...but when you're doing all that laundry...it was a beautiful thing to see that big room to do it in!!) But, having the huge laundry room means my family room is much smaller, I have a huge foyer, but, my dining and formal living room are smaller. But, all in all, the floorplan 'works' for me. I say I'd like the house just a "little bigger", but, at the end of the day, it's just that much more to clean! NO THANKS!

I just came across this site and can’t believe what some have said about McCAR Homes. I’m on my second McCAR Home and have been very satisfied with everything from the contract to close and during my warranty period. In fact, I still own my first McCAR Home and rent it out. My second home is awesome and it looks like I will make around 60k off of it when I sell it this summer after owning it for only 2 years. The rental property has also gone up about 50k, but I don’t want to sell it because of its rental history and the fact that I got a low 15 year loan. I wish McCar would build something in the 500k price range in Canton or Ball Ground so we could by our 3rd home from them. Some of you are complaining about warranty and it perplexes me because they just went out to a window leak on my rental property 3 months ago. This is a 5+ year old home and I have not maintained it like I should. They came out 4 days after I called and showed me where the caulking had pulled away and needed to be resealed. He told me that it was “Home Owner Maintenance” and then proceeded to his truck and pulled out a caulk gun to seal the hole. Five years later! I could not believe they even came out to look at it much less fix my problem. Sorry you guys are having a hard time, but I have owned quite a few homes and they are the best I’ve dealt with.

That's good news to hear about!! Honestly it is! Perhaps us newer McCar homeowners will be greeted with the same courtesy when we run into issues down the road too! It's good to know they did this for you!!

Good Luck!!

Passion, right. Passion of how long they can beat around the bush to resolve one simple issue that EVERYBODY in a McCar home is having. The cheap, no good wood floors. We have been here six months now, five inspections between McCar, Armstrong and the floor installers andstill nothing. I loved my home for about two months, then went to liking it now I am just waiting for the darn thing to start appreciating so I can get the heck out of here and buy a quality home.

I know this is kinda late to this thread, but I like my McCar home and the home buying experience. I've had one problem that has been recurring - the laminate flooring. McCar's warranty deparment has done a lot to try to make me happy. They haven't fully succeeded, but they're trying hard.
I closed late Nov 2006. I haven't been at it w/McCar as long as some of the others have, but I consider this to have been a success (so far).

Well, after reading all the complaints out here about McCar, I'm really scared now about closing on my home at the end of this month. Up through this point I haven't had any 'problems' with anyone. I noticed a lot of complaints about the 'armstrong' flooring. Well, I happened to know that my particular home has 'Georgia Flooring'. I was actually at the homesite while they were putting the flooring down. The previous company they were using, were fired because of poor quality work. I've stayed on top of the building process as much as I could. My realtor has been great, he's been in their 'a**s since day one of negoiating my contract. He was dealing with them as a car salesman would. His knowledge of what the buildlers pay for materials caused my price negioating to go in my favor. And the amazment they had on their faces were priceless. I went into the process with a mindset as them not doing me a favor, but as me doing them a favor in buying their home. And my realtor told me that if we have to go inspect the house with a two-by-4 and bust up the walls, they "Will" fix whatever needs fixing before closing..
So, I've been on top of them from day one, because I don't trust any of them. I know there is no such thing as a perfectly built house, but I don't back down easily when something is not done right.
I will update as the days and months pass...
