Lightbulb Georgia's Biggest Construction Projects.

Georgia is a busy state, with a lot of major construction projects underway or in development. I can name a few of these projects but help me out and name a few more. Keep it simple- project, cost, city, few details. Thanks!

1. BRAC (Base Realingment and Closure) $2.9 Billion, Fort Benning, Ga. Columbus Metro and Fort Benning preparing for an influx of 33,000 soldiers and their families to converge on the area between 2010-11.

2. NSA Georgia Headquarters (National Security Agency) $1 Billion, Augusta Metro. Opening in 2012, currently under construction, 4,000 new high paying jobs.

3. Downtown Savannah Retail/Residential Project. Currently under construction. Help me out with this one. Give me some details!

I-75 widening project through south georgia. Its nearing completion, but was one of the largest highway contracts in the country when it was started. Its about 4 years behind schedule.

I know what you're talaking about, but can't recall the name. It's that huge development due East of Downtown.

Another big one is the Streets of Buckhead, at I think $1.2 Billion - although construction has recently been suspended to re-work costing.

I think you are talking about Savannah river landing in Savannah.

I-20/I-520 in Augusta. $300-350 million similar to I-285/I-85 spaghetti junction in Atlanta.

,
I don't think I'd compare it to Atlanta's spaghetti junction... maybe more along the lines of some of the interchanges in Knoxville, Chattanooga and Columbia, SC.

I think the biggest construction project in the state has been expansion of Hartsfield airport.. Then you also have the new Sydney Lanier Bridge, expansion of the port of Savannah, and general widening of interstates throughout Georgia.

the new bridge has been finished for a few years now.

the only thing they didn't complete was the lighting. it was supposed to be done back in '07; but its a non-essential so it may be another 10 years before they do it.

The Kia plant in West Point is larger than the Augusta project. The Kia plant is $1.2 billion.
