Default Good affordable hunting land in Georgia?

I am wantin to move to a place with a good amount of turkey, deer and hogs in an area with large timber. I am retired and want to work on the land but need it to be affordable as well. Right now I'm in Texas but it's just too costly to buy here. I've looked online a lot and dont really care what state it is in as long as it's down south with good amounts of game. I'm starting to like Georgia for the affordability, game and remoteness but have only driven through there. I've done lots of research online and looked at about every piece of land for sale on www.landsofgeorgia.com and I've narrowed it down to a few but I was hoping anyone from Georgia could help steer me away from bad parts or maybe some honeyhole in a nother southern state? Any help would be appreciated. i want to buy something in the next year and move there.

Thanks. Jim.

I dont really have any specifics other than large timber, deer, hogs, turkey, and some land with a good pond would be nice. I'm not tied to anything really so I can move anywhere there is good game and affordable land. Are there areas in Georgia you'd stay away from?

As far as hunting and fishing land around Georgia, I can't say I'm qualified to tell you where not to go. I can tell you that my area is a good place to be (Valdosta metro area).

Taxes are reasonable, deer & turkey are plentiful.

North Brooks county and Colquitt county have some of the largest deer in the area. Lowndes county has lower property taxes, but the average per acre price tends to be higher. Echols county is a very secluded area of the valdosta metro with low prices. I don't know exactly where the largest population of hogs is, but I know we have quite an abundance in brooks county.

If you like saltwater fishing also, than south Georgia would be the place for you. I'm just over an hour from the gulf, and slightly over two from the atlantic. I'm sure being from texas you may already be accustomed to gulf fishing, so the atlantic will offer something new for you. Although its a bit rougher, I think the fish taste much better.
