All I know is what I see on the map, but hopefully a local will see this and reply. Menlo is almost right on the Georgia/Alabama line about halfway between Rome, Georgia & Fort Payne, Alabama -- close to the mountains.
If you are buying a home in that area, you should be aware that property taxes are dramatically lower in Alabama.

Thanks for replying, we actually won't have to worry about buying a home, because my boyfriend's stepdad has a house down there that he is letting us live in for the time being. I just need more info on the area, schools (because i am a teaching and will be needing a teaching job), and universities close by (because I will be looking to start my masters). Anyone who can help me out with any or all of these areas, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

Berry College has graduate programs and is located not too far from Menlo in Rome, Georgia. I highly recommend a visit to the beautiful old campus. Take a tour of the Martha Berry home, too. Take your bikes.

Hi MLG, I actually live only 6 miles from Menlo, GA. It is a very small quaint town. Slow Pace of living. People of all ages there. Housing is available at a fair price and the schools are excellent. I lived in Menlo in the early 1980's and all three of my children went to school there. My grandson attends there now. There is no high school in town however, the students are all bused to the county high school 6 miles away. There is a small park in the middle of town, a family owned grocery store and a few other small businesses. You will have to travel to Summerville if you want to go to WalMart. It is approximately 10 miles to Walmart from Menlo. Berry College is about 30 miles from Menlo. Great School and beautiful scenery. Wildlife all over the campus. Menlo is at the base of Cloudland Mountain and there are lots of outdoor activities in this area. I hope you like slow paced and outdoorsy living. This is a very small, clean, and safe town. Welcome to my County in GA.

Berry College is GREAT, but they do not offer a graduate education program. You will have to try Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, AL. Shorter College in Rome may offer a Master's in Education
