What is your pick for overall best 2nd tier Georgia Metro area?
Which Georgia metro area outside of metro Atlanta would you pick as the best place to live and why?

I wouldn't. I'm not familiar with those smaller cities, and I have no real reason to move to one. My job and my wife's job are in the Atlanta metro, as are most of our friends, etc.

Macon reminds of where I grew up at
It reminds me of fayetteville NC Middle size city not looking to get that much bigger happy and content with itself
I've never been to columbus so I dont know nothing about that city

Macon. Low crime rate, high wages, beautiful downtown. What more could you ask for?

I think Savannah probably gives you the most options outside of Atlanta.

Probably the top 3 would be Savannah, Athens, and the Georgia suburbs of Chattanooga

I would put Augusta next on the list...
But I think the Chattanooga metro area has a bit more to offer.. especially if you are an outdoor enthusiast, which I am... and one of my favorite places in Georgia, Cloudland Canyon, is located nearby.
But Augusta would be a close second.
