Then we agree . I don't want to inject race into this since that is a completely separate issue but there are too many factors involved in a decision of who to vote for to make a blanket statement about what any person's vote means.

If places like Albany and Augusta were more liberal than Atlanta (in a social sense), then it seems you would find vibrant gay communities in both cities... you don't.

I live in the Buford/Dacula area... I have plenty of gay friends and they live "out" and comfortably.

You are completely dismissing the fact that little ole Albany voted in a greater percentage than Augusta did. I don't know anyone that would paint Albany as liberal, just like I don't know anyone that would claim the same for Augusta.

I don't know anyone who would claim. That Metro Athens or Savannah are more liberal than Augusta. The only person who said that is lil musket. I don't know what you've said so far.
What facts are there? There is a scientology church and Buddhist temple in Augusta. Neither one of those things are in Savannah and Athens. Look at how many gay bars/clubs their are in Augusta compared to Athens or Savannah.

Well of course Augusta is going to have things that Athens & Savannah don't - it's a much larger city/metro area.
As far as the bar scene, I'm not familiar with either city. I do know that Savannah is considered offbeat enough that several gay friends from Atlanta have moved there, and feel completely comfortable. They describe it as a mini-New Orleans type of atmosphere.
No offense, but I never hear anything about Augusta.

Yes dear, I agree.
People need to throw every single stereotype out the window when they think about Gwinnett.
I know as many gay folks out there as I do inside the Perimeter. I have friends that are mult-racial couples raising mixed children - and it is a non-issue.
Gwinnett has become a microcosm of the world in a County!

Ok, so all straight people should find towns named "Straight"??? I bet those would be the only places heterosexual people would want to live.

Why not turn it into a gay mecca? It could happen? Wouldn't take all that many gay couples to make Gay, GA the next "Gay" hotspot. It actually has a cute little town center in need of some fabulousness.

When I came to Augusta, I didn't see one gay/lesbian bar in the whole city (not saying there isn't one). I didn't see many gays either walking the streets. When I came to Savannah, I saw a pretty large amount of gay people walking in downtown. Not sure about Athens, as I have never been there.
Just because Augusta has more religious diversity than Savannah and Athens, doesn't make it one bit more liberal. Just because the majority of Richmond County voted Democrat, doesn't make it liberal. Big difference.

What religous diversity is there in Augusta?? It's pretty much all Southern Baptists.. maybe a few methodists and a presbyterian thrown in here and there.. but overall mainly protestant Christian. It's purely Bible Belt South.
