I agree. . Michael Thurmond does need phone calls from everyone. There should be seemless action for those who have expired unemployment benefits. Sonny and Michael are the people that have the ability to make things happen. Here is his number 404.656-3011. . . Start calling!!!

I feel like I am living a bad country western song. The pickup will be the next to go. LOL. Seriously, things are a mess. Fortunately the loan company deferred my car payments until June 8, I guess it is better for them than having to repo it. I have begged and borrowed from my family, and have enough to cover rent in May. I just found out that I am going to be investigated for food stamp fraud...which is a huge laugh and talk about adding insult to injury. I can document every penny I have, and believe me it is pennies, and I have signed notes for the money that was loaned. Not sure why they think I defrauded anyone. I have no 401K, cashed that in and spent it already to keep a roof over my head, stocks, bonds....savings...all gone. So they can just investigate all they want, nothing here to hide. So, when I am living in a van down by the river can I go to Sonny's house for dinner?? Oh wait, I don't own a van...hmmm, anybody have an old refrigerator box?? Maybe we can start our own subdivision right next to the governors mansion.

Tried that today. What a joke in calling Michael Thurmond Office, when you call his office it sends you directly to the GDOL. And getting information from them is like pulling teeth. Nobody seem to knows anything, or should i say nobody is revealing anything. Iam tring to stay positive, but from day to day it's hard. I keep praying for what Obama ran for "CHANGE IN AMERICA".

WIZ MAN, I was told by the DOL and the Gov. office, Perdue has signed the bill. The gov. office said 25 May before any money starts flowing, I said what's the hold up? My understanding is Thurmond needs more time to get ready. It's all a bunch of crap, I only got 45 weeks anyway, another story!

Wiz, I voted for Obama, and so far BUSH did more for us. What the "H" is going on? Instead of adding $25/ week they could have added more to Tier 2 or exempted income taxes on 08 UI income. I feel that I have been hoodwinked! Wait till voting time comes back around.........JUST WAIT!!!!!!!!!

President Obama did what he promised, he provided funds for each state. It was up to the Governor to except it, which if Perdue would have done so in the beginning when these monies was first offered we probably would not be having this conversation right now. Lets not get this twisted, Bush provided the funds for tier 1 and tier 2 and our white Governor had no problem accepting these funds, but because our president of color did the same thing, it was almost like saying that they did'nt want him to succeed in keeping his promise. Tell me how far has America come?

OK LETS DO IT!!!!! we need a meeting place and posters of about the same...and as many people as possible...their is 40,000 of us in georgia why are'nt they on here posting?????? We need to find them!!!! could you imagine 40,000 people in atlanta at the Governors office that would get national attention and georgia officals would be SHAMED....
(SO WHEN THE MEDIA STARTED ASKING US QUESTIONS we could show proof!!!!we need to show when the other states triggered on after their bill for unemployment came into effect....and why all those other states did not have issues with their updating process.) The GADOL had no problem with the system when it came to teir 1 and teir 2..WE ALL HAVE BEEN IN THE SYSTEM LONGER THAN ALL THE OTHER unemployed workers in georgia. I am outraged and damn right pissed..

We need to get organized, and show our discontent! I would hate to find that this is all a political stunt by the governor's office to make the Dems look bad, but when it comes to politics nothing surprises me anymore. Crunch

How does all this make the democrats look bad when you have a republican Governor? The point is, our Government at both the State and Federal levels is remiss. It isn't a race thing-it is a poorly conceived perception by our elected officals of what is the reality out in the real world. All of these people are so removed from all of this as none of this effects them. They are safe in their benefit cushioned little world.
It is their fault that we all are in this situation to begin with. As for G. Bush-don't get me started. I emailed the White House concerning the funds and the length of time between the passage of this bill and us actually receiving the benefits and I have yet to get a response. What is the point of making us wait-very bad show by the Republican rulers in the Gold Dome. The fact is, until the Government actually does something about the job situation, the ranks of unemployed will continue to grow. This is not going away anytime soon. Month after month, hundreds of thousands of people are losing their jobs due to the economy with no end of site. My questions is-how can they create new jobs with our present economy when company after company is folding or cutting back just so they can survive? I am afraid that the way of life we all have come to expect is gone the wayside and that scares the hell out of me. Let me know where you are setting up your tent as that is my next option. All of us need to flood the AJC editorial section with this rant about the lack of concern or empathy towards us the unemployed.
