My hometown is Vienna Georgia. An hour south of Macon off of I-75. Population 2568 (Saaalute).

About 30 miles from Waycross is Douglas (coffee county) It even has a junior college which is awesome. Most people in douglas if they don't want to shop in Douglas will go to either Valdosta or Waycross.

Try Dublin, since it also has a Veterans Hospital and will be more sane AND affordable than Augusta metro.

By small town GA what do you mean? I have looked into a few towns(cities I guess lol) in GA and found that for kids there are alot of things for them too do and some very good schools. I do think doing your "homework is key"...I am considering Buford(City schools) Lawrencville(Collin Hill Schools) and Grayson....All come highly reccomended to me..
Any opinions or suggestions?
Thanks
Lisa

I wish I had gone with my gut instinct and purchased in Dublin. I thought the area was lovely and I felt I would have been happy there. My niece wanted me closer to her so I purchased in Macon. I am not unhappy with my choice but Dublin was my first choice, good to see it mentioned here

If you want a truly small South Georgia town....Willacoochee may be a choice to look into. Its a nice little quite town with 1,500 or so people. If you have any questions I can answer them.

If you are looking for a small town in N. GA, try Martin. It has a whole 303 people and is located between Toccoa (9,000) and Lavonia (2,000). It takes about 30 seconds to drive through it under its one blinking light and boasts a tire store, a post office and a baby supply resale store! Lavonia is actually on I-85 just south of the South Carolina line. It is a small town but has quick access to larger areas. Fifteen minutes from the Commerce Outlet center, a half hour from Anderson, SC, about an hour to Greenville, SC and an hour or so to the Atlanta suburbs.

If you like the area near Savannah, I would suggest Metter, GA. The whole place is very nice looking. It is located on I-16 about a hour from Savannah. I would be carefull about Glennville. Several of my friends lived thier and they thought it was the pitts. Lots of Meth problems in that county. Hope this helps.
