Lakeland, GA
I noticed housing prices are really inexpensive in Lakeland, GA. Of course, I haven't checked out any other areas in GA so maybe they are that good all over the state.
Can anyone tell me about the Lakeland area. What is it like? What is the crime like? What can you tell me about the people, etc...

I live in Valdosta, which is about 20 minutes to the west of Lakeland, GA. Lakeland is a very small town, friendly people, very laid back.

Well, I live in Lakeland, Ga. (on the outskirts) It is a small farming community. There is not a traffic light, only one flashing light in front of the elementary school. The people here are very sweet, everyone says hello, yes mam, no sir type of place. The school is excellent and has been nationally recognized for it's academic performance. There are a lot of old stores, and there are murals painted all throughout town to improve Lakeland's (L.I.L.A. project) appearance. The beautiful Banks Lake Wildlife refuge is located just a mile out of town and is great for family outtings or just to go and take your lunch break. There are always craft shows/charitable events around Lakeland, everyone works so hard in our community to better where we live! We have the Deer Fest annually, where there is a wild game supper, an auction to raise money for the city of Lakeland and that's just the beginning of Deer Fest! We also have "Flatlanders Frolic" which is an amazing place to take a family, you wouldn't believe the arts and crafts! We recently had a nice visit from Governor Sonny Perdue!! I hope this information helps ya'll out..I'm sorry to ramble but I Love Lakeland!

Moving to Lakeland, GA
We will be moving to Lakeland GA from Massachusetts. We come from a small rural town and are looking forward to the move.
We are looking for recommendations for a good realtor for the Lakeland area. We are looking to either rent or buy a home there or in the surrounding area.
Recommendations of areas of town to live in -- what is in the community?
We visited there this past April - seemed like a nice area.
We will be leaving Massachusetts on July 9th to head down as my husband
needs to be in Lakeland by July 27th.
Any help folks can give us would be great.
