Jessica ~ what type of work is your husband looking for? Although I know times are tough and it can be hard to find employment these days, I would not say there are "no jobs" here. I doubt the negative feedback is helpful to you.
There are a lot of great areas in Georgia to raise a family and depending on the type of work your husband is looking for and the commute he is willing to make would definitely change my suggestions. That being said Gwinnett County can be a good place. Dacula, Buford & Suwanee are nice areas. Athens, GA is a nice place as well but the public schools do leave a bit to be desired. Watkinsville, Bogart, & Winder (Oconee County & Barrow County respectively) have better public schools but the job market there may be tougher. Although these areas may not be as ethnically diverse as others I don't think you would have a problem with predjudice. Of course I think you find can those type of people anywhere you go unfortunatley, so I guess you never know.
Good luck with your search!

Gee, I wonder why the latinos don't like it here.
They're all Mexican chicken plant workers.

If you don't need to commute then Gwinnett is a solid bet. (No rhyme intended)
The schools are high quality (well some are, try to stay with Brookwood, Parkview, Collins Hill and some others but avoid Meadowcreek. Go to greatschools.com to compare schools.) so your children's achievement will laregely depend on their abilities and work ethics.
Unfortunately, the areas that are least susceptible to prejudice are areas where the latino population/minority population is high so you may end up with your own demographic.
Generally speaking, the western areas of Gwinnett County have the largest minority population and highest crime rates although there are exceptions to both cases.
Your husband's employment is a serious matter though, you probably should try to get him hired before moving.

My husband will need to find a job but we will let him figure that part out. In regards to my family composition. We are latinos (not necessarily looking for this demographic in the area) we have three children 11yr, 9yr and 2yrs. I would like a place where there are good schools, a home town feel and a place where we can call home for a long time to come. I have seen in the post where some areas are more prejudice than others. I don't want to be in those areas. I would like a nice area where the people are nice and we are not looked at by the color of our skin (actually my kids look white.) I am worried of ending up in a town where we are going to feel miserable. We are coming from Orlando and tired of the city feel. Any thoughts as to where to go? From what I have read so far I am looking at Covington, Peachtree City and Powder Springs. But your thoughts are highly valuable. Thank you in advance.

Dear Jessica, My recommendation would be Columbus. Within the next couple of years BRAC (Base Realignment) will take effect and bring many new residents and new opportunities. (Ft. Benning, you know.) Close by you will find a new Kia plant. Columbus is a nice size town (city) and would be a welcome change from Orlando, I imagine. another option might be Buena Vista, GA which is 35miles away and has a number of Hispanic residents. The commute to Ft. Benning is not bad -20 to 25 miles.
