Post Moving to GA...

We live in NJ and are considering moving to GA. The Sharpsburg area is mainly where we have been searching. I am a Wiccan and have been told that GA is more of a Bible-Belt area. Is this true? Others have said that it is not so bad. If there are any Wiccans out there your help would be so very much appreciated

Also, how hot does it get in the summer? NJ has heat and hummidity so our hot days can be pretty bad. Does GA have the intense hummidity? What is your winter like?

We have allot of pets so if anyone has moved cross country your advice is also greatly welcomed. It's about a 13 - hour drive for us if that helps.

Thanks!

BB,

BB,
I would think that moving to such a small conservative town in the Bible belt like Sharpsburg might be uncomfortable for you unless perhaps you're considering converting to Christianity, which would be great ! Don't mean to offend, and I'm not saying everyone there would be a Christian of course, but folks generally desire to live in small town America in order to get away from many of the negative influences more prevelant in larger cities. Just a thought.

I have met many Wiccans in Atlanta's northwestern and western suburbs and the Greater Rome area.

I think people here in Georgia are more open-minded and accepting towards people with different beliefs.

Sharpsburg is a great town to live in.

Yes GA is the Bible belt, I am sure as long as you are not disturbing others with your religion, then no one will even know. I hope I don't offend you, I am not very educated on the wiccan lifestyle.

Summers are very humid, nothing like summer in NJ. I moved from GA to Long Island last year, I was amazed at the fact that 90 degrees here feels so much better than 90 degrees in GA.

It might take you a few summers to get use to it. As far as winter, it isn't as brutal as Northeast winters, but it does get cold, and the occasional snow, a few inchs is it though, and most schools and stores close because of those few inchs.

You will need to stick to Atlanta, maybe Athens. Anything goes in Atlanta. Other than that, I recon there aren't too many people in the more rural parts of Georgia that are going to be accepting of witches and pagans.

I just saw this thread and don't know if you moved yet. I moved to the Dallas area and I will tell you I never met a Wiccan until I moved here. there are a lot in this area so you would be very welcomed here. We are about 45 min West of Atlanta. Hope that helps.
