Default Gainesville

I've read lots about Atlanta, Macon, etc.
What do you know or can you tell me about living in Gainesville, GA (in relation to size, economy, schools, crime, drug use, education levels, cost of living, any additional details)? Currently, we live in Dayton, Ohio. We have lived in Cleveland, Ohio; Blacksburg, Virgina; Nashville, TN; and Richmond, IN.

I am originally from east of Cleveland, OH, and currently work in Gainesville and live in Suwanee. I would compare Gainesville to Lorain, OH - a smaller sized but independent city just outside the sphere of influcence of the major city (i.e. Atlanta). Hall County, where Gainesville is located is fast growing and convenient to Atlanta's offerings. There are an interesting mix of people here, including natives of the county, transplants from all over the country, and a large Hispanic population - the city is 50% hispanic, and the county about 25% hispanic. Schools are OK - people seem to like Gainesville city schools better than the county, but my kid goes to Gwinnett county schools so I am not an expert in this area.
