You know... as soon as i saw the title of this thread I knew one of you Maconites would bring up Macon. It is no wonder that this section of this fine board is visited so little. It does not matter what the subject is... it will always end up being about Macon. A thread could be titled " Which town in nicer, Valdosta or Thomasville?" and one of you, without a doubt, will bring Macon into the mix. I am guessing that this is the reason this section (Ga. state board) has so little traffic.
Well, if I am gonna be force fed Macon in practically every thread I have a bit to add. In a strange twist of fate, the last few weeks I have been working in Macon. This is the first time in four or five years that I have done so. All my previous comments regarding Macon were based on either passing through or an occasional trip on purpose, like going to Bass Pro or some where specific. I want to take this opportunity to come clean about Macon now that I have traveled to, and worked in Macon for eight straight days now. I now feel very comfortable about this opinion... I can honestly say that, without a doubt in my mind, in my adult life, I have never visited such a nasty, run down ugly place. Everything I have said about Macon in the past was just too darn nice. The place is a hole. A dank miserable place in which I hope to not have to work in again. If you are stuck there then I guess you have to make the best of what you got... but Macon is not even close to Columbus, Augusta or Savannah in regards to cleanliness or growth. It quite possible may be the flat out ugliest place I have ever been to... and I have been around.
Macon is Gary, In. with warm weather.
Macon is East St. Louis with a smaller river.
It really is that bad. Seriously.
I am Bulldawgfan, and I believe this message to be true. Honestly. No kidding.

O.K we have had our disagreements before but I do agree with you about the Maconites on this forum. However I do actually like downtown Macon and the area off of Vineville near Weslyan College. The rest is kinda "DANK".Have you been in the downtown area where the museums are?Do you find that area undesirable as well?

I still say you cant take bulldawgfan serious. Awhile back, a poster brought to light the fact of how bulldawgfan used city-data's "crime index" info to BACK his argument of why Macon is so bad, but yet he, himself, said he didnt trust city-data's crime index rankings in regards to another city that he personally didnt believe to be as bad as the crime index on this site indicates.
That, my friends, is what you call being a Hypocrite.
I also noticed bulldawgfan did not bother replying to that poster calling him out as well.

Bulldawgfan, can you please tell me why it is OK for you to use city-data's crime index ratings to back your argument on why Macon is so bad, when you said you didnt even trust them in a previous post? I would love to know how someone can use a source to prove one of their points when previously they said the source was not reliable.
lol Dude says anything to bash Macon.

Bulldawgfan, lol here is where you mess up. Any person being HONEST TO THEMSELVES on here, who have ACTUALLY visited these cities, can tell you that pretty much all of Georgia's second tier cities pretty much MIRROR each other when it comes to to nice areas vs. good areas.
Augusta, Macon, Columbus, Savannah....NONE of them are THAT much LESS ghetto than the other that it is a significant, notieceable difference. FOR CERTAIN this is true of Augusta, Macon, and Savannah.....Columbus may be SLIGHTLY less dirty, ghetto than those 3...but its not by much...they all have pretty large amount of rough areas.
lol ...for you to act like Macon is "not even close" in cleanliness to the others...is just absolutely not true.
I mean, if someone visited the nice NORTHSIDE of Macon for a week and stayed on the rough SOUTHSIDE of Columbus for the same length of time, that may give them a skewed view of how the cities are as a whole too.
I believe you know better bulldawgfan, which leads me to believe that you for whatever reason have some sort of "beef" with Macon.

...And for the record....I am not one for lies or exaggerations....even if it comes at the expense of making my city (Macon) look bad.
Heck, I have even saw quite a few posts made by fellow Maconites that I believed to be overboard boosterism, though I applaud their positive thinking.
If this were Macon Vs. Warner Robins, yeah I would tell you Macon is much more ghetto, violent and poor than Warner Robins, because its true....but when Macon is compared to Savannah, Columbus, and Augusta...they are all about in the same boat as far as those issues are concerned, anyone who says differently is either lying, or have no clue what they are talking about.

I live in WR and visited Valdosta, twice! Valdosta seemingly has more to do; probably because they have the college. I also like the fact it's a lot closer to FL...Again, I've only visited...

Here we go again. I am neither lying nor without a clue. Forget about how bad this site beats up Macon... lets look here Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitors sites is not allowed .
In every possible crime rating Macon falls below the other cities mentioned.
In regards to average household income... guess which city is dead last in the rankings? By nearly $7,000 per year?
So, as a matter of fact (yes, it is fact) Macon is substantially more violent and more poor than the other cities listed.
Here is a clue... that is no lie.

According to that very site.
Macon Murder
Is 2.42 times the National Average
Savannah Murder
Is 2.83 times the National Average
come on man, you have to try harder...your own source disputes your claim.
I mean, just look at their graph, lol besides one category eveyrthing else is right aroung national avg.(according to your source)...lol if anything that source is doing Macona favor and you're using that to prove your point?? Must be running low BASH MACON Fuel.
