I live near it in Newnan, it's very rural and there's not a lot to do, but it's close to Newnan which has a lot of stores and restaurants

Thank You Tdiddyoo27 for your reply. My family and I are driving to Grantville this weekend, so if you have any information on the best schools to share this would be very helpful.

Grantville Stuck In Time!
Grantville Is A Town That Is Stuck In Time As In The 1960's! It Is A Town Full Of Nothing. Everything Sucks About Grantville. There Are No Opps For Employment, Recreation, Shopping, Entertainment. They Have The Crappiest Library I've Ever Been In, Poor Book Selection, No Updated Material. A One Man Post Office That Closes 2 Hours For Lunch, Why I Don't Know. The Politicians Do Not Spend The Money Making Grantville A Better Community. The Kids Do Not Have A Descent Park To Play In. You Will Have To Drive Up To Newnan To Do Everything. You Can Settle For The Only Restaurant In Town, The Very Expensive Only Restaurant In Town! The Food Is Ok, But Anybody Can Cook Chicken WingsModerator cut: Removed I Know You're Wondering If I Hate It So Much, Why Do I Live Here. I'm Been Trying To Sell My House For The Longest, I'm Tired Of The Long Commute To Work.

Grantville is not stuck in the 60's, maybe the 50's... Grantville has been a hole in the wall, a greasy spot on hiway 27, for a hundred plus years. This town sucks to the younger group but lets the older generation live in a quiet town. Never mind the politics, the forever in fighting, the political insiders that control everything, this place is growing. Property values have grown in the past several years. The property values have soared in the Newan area, and the builders have found that people will commute to Atlanta from Grantville. The distance from high priced Henry County to atlanta is about the same as Grantville to atlanta. prices there are off the wall. Subdivisions are sprouting up all over the place here, more new money is coming into the town. This is the time for this area to grow.
If you can stand the local infighting, the controlling higharchy of the local politicans, the drive to work, this town is worth the money.
I don't live here nor want to, but have good friends here and my mom lived there for years. The town has grown ten times in the last 10years. Hang on, it will get better.

I've read with interest and disgust some of the disparaging remarks about Grantville GA. True, it is a small town, true, there are not many all night bars, game rooms, true, there are no 'Hooters' nor shushi bars, that I know of. However, the town is full of friendly, down home people, it is quiet and quite lovely. Some would call it 'quaint' but hey, what's wrong with quaint?
There's a place called Nick's Pizzeria that serves one of the best tasting pizza's I've ever eaten. They have other great things on their menu as well. Hawg Heaven BBQ is just down the road and it's great food also.
It won't be long before they will have a brand new Food Lion grocery store. Already there is an Ingles grocery just a few minutes away. They are also building a state of the art Primary care facility which will open very soon. It will be affiliated with the new Piedmont Hospital in Newnan.
Saying that the town doesn't provide 'entertainment' is nonsense! Whatever happened to playing 'catch',football, basketball, baseball, board games, school dances, having picnics, going fishing, having friends over for a back yard BBQ..or ..oh-oh how about this one, "spending-time-with-your-family"? Now, that's a novel idea, huh? How about mowing and trimming your yard..or a neighbors? How about picking up trash in your neighborhood streets? That's a good one!!!
Just look around people, there are a million and one ways to stay busy.
Then, when it gets dark you will probably be too tired to 'need' this other kind of entertainment!!
My son lives in Grantville. We visit him as often as we can. I love the town, I love the atmosphere, and the cost of housing is less than Newnan, Moreland, and certainly less than Peachtree City and Atlanta!

If I had the money I would buy Grantville and make it a cute little town. It has been left to turn into a ghost town IMO. It has potential, but right now I wouldn't live there. Try Moreland.

Growth is coming to Grantville because Atlanta continues to move south toward LaGrange. Kia will boost the area as well.

I grew up in the next mill town to the south, Hogansville and know Grantville very well. It is the typical cotton mill town that is common to the piedmont area of Georgia. It has an old commercial district near a railroad track that has seen better days, an old abandoned mill, a mill village with turn of the century mill housing (small four our six room cottages), older Victorian houses nearer the center, some newer ranch type houses and a poorer section across the tracks that was in segregated days the only area for african americans to reside, a First Baptist and First Methodist near the downtown, separate churches for blacks (11am Sunday is still the most segregated hour in this day), an elementary school (high school kids go to Newnan).
Because of its closeness to 85 and the ever spreading sprawl of Atlanta, several modestly priced subdivisions have sprung up, doubling the population since the last census. Amenities are slowly trickling in that a town this size never had before. Is it Newnan or Peachtree City? By no means, but it will continue to grow because of its location.
It will have some of the old ideas of days gone by, but it is rapidly changing and will adapt. Growing up in a town like this, I hated the lack of options that family and friends had in larger cities, but as I age, I yearn for the simpler times of a community like this.
If you are aware of all these things, it will be a wonderful place to live. If you can't handle a small town and a more rural pace, perhaps you should find a larger, more established town closer to Atlanta.
